Thursday night, anticipation filled the entrance of the music hall as the crowd gathered to hear the 2010 AIGA LA fellow speak. I found myself to be just as nervous as well given that John's presentation had problems getting on screen. Display problems aside, John had a lot to say and really made the presenation his own.
John's spiritual nature and his philosophy really made his presentation and words so unique. His view on our ideas and thoughts really hammered home the idea that our designs can have a life of our own. As long as we put the passion and effort in our ideas can flourish into huge marvelous creations. That's what gives art including design life. Do what you love to do. If you're not doing what love doing, then you're in the wrong field.
I was impressed by John's work. I had not had a chance to see his work before, and was impressed to see that arts and crafts aesthetic in his work. I was glad to see him show that given that many a designer feel so comfortable using their hands in our community.
John Coy is an AMAZING man and will not forget his ideology as I move forward in my career.
